History
Born into the world during a raging blizzard, Vitus gained his life but took his mothers, Lyda only living long enough to name her longed-for son before she left the star. With his grieving father unable to so much as look at the boy let alone care for him, Vitus’ childhood was filled with privilege and loneliness in equal measure, his extended family and the staff his only source of company. Vitus grew up to be spoiled, reckless and superior, inheriting the royal title of wir from his mother as her final wish and being raised as the scion of a powerful house having impacted much of the young Lucons life. He learned from an early age that weakness would not be tolerated or expressed.His own hatred of his father aside, Vitus adored and to this day remains loyal to the extended family who cared for him when his Father would not. He is close to his three cousins, Licinius, Licinia and Silvana and his Aunties and Uncles are as second parents to him. Vitus regards his cousins as siblings and bickering aside they continue to turn to one another for opinions and advice.Encouraged by his tutor and Uncle Licinius, Vitus would often be seen tinkering with all sorts of Magitek as a boy. Though Neratius insisted that his son should concentrate on the more worthwhile pursuits of politics and military matters, his fascination for and talent with Magitek couldn’t be removed from him and Vitus continued his studies and tinkering in private, largely aided and abetted by his extended family. In the Imperial Academy Vitus would prove himself to his tutors and peers in equal measure, exerting minimal effort whilst achieving consistently high marks. No matter the challenges put before him he would succeed always worried that one failure or less than perfect mark would result in his disownment from his inheritance and family.Once he graduated he was quickly enlisted in the Military, again on Neratius’ say-so, his first official posting with the secretive XXth Legion. Vitus hated soldiery despite applying himself fully to his posting, but this was at a time when the Legion was volatile, to say the least. In quick succession, several Legatii either died in suspicious circumstances or battle, but this worked eventually to the young man’s advantage.As his titles and talent saw him rise through the ranks soon there was no pureblood remaining to take the title of Legatus, and so at an impossibly young age and with little experience behind him, Vitus was the one to assume it. His Tribunus was Scipio tol Akechi, a Doman-born Raen and unlikely ally of his fathers who was fiercely loyal to Garlemald. It was unthinkable that a “savage” could hold such a high position and not only to Vitus, but desperate times called for such desperate measures.In the XXth Legion Vitus found something far more than just subordinates to command and a job he avoided; autonomy and support. The young Legatus spent what little time he had to himself in the R&D department amongst the engineers and medicii who were all only too keen to explain their projects and theories to him. For Vitus's part he took a leading role in the department, investing time and effort in their success and leading them to create machina and technology that otherwise might never have been realised, giving his Legion a cutting edge when called into combat. With Scipio’s encouragement and the space to become his own man, Vitus became a leader who inspired loyalty in his men despite his initial failings, such support truly making him a different man than the boy who had left Garlemald.

Hi, I'm Aru and I hope you liked reading up on the Vitus' basic premise. As with all characters there's more to Vitus than the short blurbs in his carrd so if you're interested in setting up some RP then please don't hesitate to send a /tell or drop into the XXth Discord. ‣ If you're a Garlean, particularly in the military or from the upper echelons of Garlean society, then chances are you have heard of Vitus or would at least know his family name. This is not to say that you have to be fond of or impressed by the Lucons!‣ Are you a Lucon? The vipers are known to many and were adept at making political matches in order to maintain their power. That said, their famed weakness for beauty led many to marry beneath them. Vitus holds his relatives in high esteem.‣ Lost soldier? Displaced refugee looking to aid the homeland? The XXth is currently engaged in humanitarian efforts in Garlemald and has lost soldiers in the attempt. Vitus would admire greatly those willing to join his Legion and assist in the restoration of Garlemald.‣ Vitus was parachuted into his Legion young and the rumours regarding the acquisition of his title abound. Asking him how it came to pass, and how he came to survive, might make for an interesting conversation if he chooses to ignore your insolence.‣ Are you an engineer, medic or a warmachina enthusiast? Vitus would love to exchange ideas. The Legatus feels at home in the sciences and would like nothing more than to lock himself in a research lab.
